I am Dilip Singh Bat from Capgemini. We want to use Sisulizer software for localization of my application developed in .net. So we are evaluating the Sisulizer software but we are facing problems. It is not translating our application. We have gone through the Quickstart and we are following the same steps mentioned in the quickstart but still we are not getting success.
Actually when we try to translate from English to Spanish language, it shows Values for Spanish language blank and
status as "Not Translated". Could you please suggest any solutions or could you please give email id of any of your technical executive

Hello,

I think you are correctly created your project, but Sisulizer is localization software, not machine translation software, and for this reason all cells of your targeted language (Spanish) are empty. However Sisulizer has implemented some auto-translations features supported localization process.
You can use following auto-translate feature:
- Translation Engines
- Import
- Translate Duplicate
While Sisulizer has interfaces to machine translation it is highly recommended to use a human translator who is a native speaker. Only a professional translator will produce the translation quality you need to enlarge your markets. A machine translation will not help you. Below is short descriptions of all auto-translation features.

Translation Engines
Sisulizer supports following automatic translation features: Translation Memory, Google Translate and External machine translation software (as addons). You can manage all these feature by Translation Engines interface available via “Tools” menu > “Translation Engines”. On below screenshot you can to see Translation Engines dialog window.

1. Translation Memory.
By default after installation create Translation Memory named Embedded based on DBISAM database. This is good place to save your translation for future re-use, for example for new project. You can add many your own Translation Memories to Sisulizer based on different database engines. For example you can create Translation Memory dedicated only to one specified project. You can also add external localization resources e.g. TMX, CSV, XLS (Excel) etc. to Translation Memory via “Translation Engines” > “Documents” tab.

2. Google.
To build 280 was added (only in Sisulizer Enterprise edition) new translation engine named Google. This feature allows you use translation resources of worldwide Google Translate service, and is available currently for 34 languages. This Translation Engine is installed by default with Sisulizer and after installation is ready to use and for this reason I recommend use this feature for your project. You can to do in following way:
- Select your translation column, e.g. Spanish
- Go to “Column” menu > “Translate Using Translation Engine > Use Google.
Currently quality of Google Translate resources is not high, but It think is good point for beginning your work with Sisulizer. However probably you need to preview all translations correct, and customize translations to your needs.

3. External machine translation software.
Sisulizer support Seram and WorldLingo machine translation software, but you need to have installed these software on your PC.

Import.
You can import translations from external, already translated resources, for example:

1.Already localized targeted files, for example DLL, RESX, INI etc..
You can to do via “File” menu > “Import” (it open Import Wizard) or via “Project” menu “Import Translations from Localized Files”

2.Sisulizer and Multilizer projects.
You can to import translations to project from other your Sisulizer projects. Sisulizer supports also directly import from localization projects external localization tool named Multilizer. You can to do via “File” menu > “Import” (it open Import Wizard)

3.Excel files (XLS).
You can to do via “File” menu > “Import” (it open Import Wizard)

4.XLIFF files. XLIFF (XML Localization Interchange File Format) is currently very popular forma to exchange translations between translators, or between translators and developers.

5.TMX files.
TMX (Translation Memory Exchange) format is used to exchange Translation Memory contents. Many localization service providers (LSP) and developers use it to exchange translations. Additional this format allows you to import translations from all other localization tools with implemented translation Memory feature, e.g. Passolo, Alchemy Catalyst, Lingobit Localizer etc.

6.CSV or other text delimited files.
This plain text format is use by many companies to creation their glossary or repository files. So you can use this resources, and for example download MS repository files from Microsoft website and import to your project
Usually quality of imported translations from MS CSV files is good and allows on automatic translation even to 50 % of all strings.

Below is sample screen from some Import Wizard step (import from Sisulizer project):

Translate Duplicates
Sisulizer can automatically translate identical strings. So if you type translation for “Cancel” (in English) string, Sisulizer automatically translate all occurrences of this string in project. You can also use “Column” menu > “Translate Duplicates”. In this case Sisulizer automatically translate all strings also with “Auto translated” status. You can customize settings of this feature via “Tools” menu > “General” > “Translations” tab (look on screenshot).

Best regards,
Janusz

Could you tell me if you saved project before you opened it again?
BTW:
If you use “Remove Pseudo Translation”, all translations filled during pseudo-translation operation will be removed and status of these items will be reverted to “Not translated”, but all changed translation strings (wit status “Translated”) will remain in project.

Hi,

And don't forget that Sisulizer will not change your original binaries. It will create localized copies of them in some sub-directory.

And you should read this:

http://www.sisulizer.com/online-help/ActionMessageNetUiLocale.htm

to select the right language at the start of your application. The default in .NET is to start with the system default locale. I guess in your case this is not Spanish :-) Without that minor change you might always see English.

Yes, my default language is English not spanish. Could you please give some solution. We are going to use sisulizer in our application.

Hi,

The solution is to read:

http://www.sisulizer.com/online-help/ActionMessageNetUiLocale.htm

This page has all the info you need for .NET programing.

Then you can try the samples coming with Sisulizer. If you use .NET you find them in the Sisulizer directory in the sub-directory Net.

Try this. Unzip the file and run the application (Project1.exe). It is my test application for Google Translate. Tell me if it can translate text.

Hello,

Google translate is available only in Enterprise edition, so if you e.g. evaluate Professional edition you need change this version to Enterprise.

Hello,

Google translate was implemented to build 280. This feature is not available if you use older build. This feature also could be disabled if you upgraded your Sisulizer to build 280/281 from older version with following installation setting: "Upgrade the existing installation".
In this case you need go to "Tools" menu > "Translation Engines" > Click on "+" button, and next select "Google Translate Machine Translator" from list of "Select Engine Type" UI item > click "OK".

Best regards,
Janusz

Hi,

Can you please go to your browser and enter and send the following URL:

http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/language/translate?v=1.0&q=hello%20world&langpair=en%7Cit

Now you should get this result:
{"responseData": {"translatedText":"ciao mondo"}, "responseDetails": null, "responseStatus": 200}

Does that work for you?

Hi Walter,

I found some quirk that causes the list under Project - Translate Using Translation Engine being outdated at runtime. So if you click to e.g. Use Google the embedded TM might be used and vice versa. I reported that to our R&D.

If you move Google under Tools - Translation Engines at the first position with the Blue Arrow Up button and then close and re-open Sisulizer it should work. At least it always did in my tests.

Hi Markus,

you are right if I change the positon of the translation engines google translation works fine.

I hope that this could be solved with the next release because for me it is better to have my local translation database on the first position. So that if no translation is found on my local translation date google translation will be used.

Regards
Walter

Hi Josef,

The issue was reported and will be corrected soon.

You might be able to change the order again, close Sisulizer and start again. My guess is, that Sisulizer needs to build up the internal list with build 281 at least once. In any case the submenu of the project menu is wrong after you change the order and so a re-start is needed.

Good to hear that we made some progress :-)

The quirk is a bit nasty. Once the submenu is up-to-date Google Translate just works fine. It was hard to find some situation where it fails. The problem is reported and will be hopefully fixed soon.

Can you please upload the Sisulizer project (.slp) you try to localize with the Private Upload button right above the post and I give it a try from here. Perhaps your language pair is not supported or something like that went wrong. With you file I might be able to see the problem.

No, there is no file. If the upload is successful it tells you how much data was uploaded. It might take a while if the file is bigger. You might want to zip your .slp before you upload it.

Did you manually edit the .slp file?

Your file has:

  <lang id="DE"/>
  <lang id="ES"/>
  <lang id="cs"/>
  <lang id="zh"/>

It should be:

  <lang id="de"/>
  <lang id="es"/>
  <lang id="cs"/>
  <lang id="zh"/>

Despite that does Google Translate work fine with you file. I also should look at you sisulizer.slo file in your Sisulizer directory. Can you please also upload that.

Hi,

Thanks for the file. I guess I found the reason. I used your firewall settings and it worked for me. The only possibility for this is, that Sisulizer ignores the proxy settings for Google Translate. I did not expect that. Sorry for all hassle. I reported it to our R&D and hope they will fix that soon.

Hello,

Thank you – I’ve got your files. On your screenshot I found following message generated by MS .NET: “The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process”. Maybe your source files are opened in Visual Studio or other application at the same time, or access to files is blocked by your security software (antivirus). Could you to do following tests?
- Close all other applications, open your project in Sisulizer and run again build operation
- Disable your security protection software (antivirus, firewall), open your project in Sisulizer and run again build operation

I am attaching the error screen shot as well as application exe.
I’ve found in sent files only your screenshot and Sisulizer project, but package didn’t contain any source files.

Best regards,

The info how to change the culture at runtime can be read in the online help. Here is the page you should read:

Like Janusz already said does your screenshot show, that Sisulizer can not create localized binaries. The screenshot alread has all the info.

If Sisulizer can not create these binaries your application can not find and use them.

Please make sure that the files Sisulizer wants to scan and build in the build process are not opened and in use by some other process.

Hi,

Have you read:

http://www.sisulizer.com/online-help/RuntimeLanguageChangeNet.htm

?

And also consider:

How do I change the system code page? on http://www.sisulizer.com/support/codepages.shtml

If you start your application without changing the code page and setting CurrentUICulture at program start with
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture;

you will never see the target language.

Hi,

Please take care of the following:

a) Change Program.cs as stated in http://www.sisulizer.com/online-help/ActionMessageNetUiLocale.htm :

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using System.Globalization;
using System.Threading;

namespace sisutest
{
    static class Program
    {
        /// <summary>
        /// The main entry point for the application.
        /// </summary>
        [STAThread]
        static void Main()
        {
            Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture;
            Application.EnableVisualStyles();
            Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false);
            Application.Run(new Form1());
        }
    }
}

I changed for my test to:

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using System.Globalization;
using System.Threading;

namespace sisutest
{
    static class Program
    {
        /// <summary>
        /// The main entry point for the application.
        /// </summary>
        [STAThread]
        static void Main()
        {
            Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("es");
            Application.EnableVisualStyles();
            Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false);
            Application.Run(new Form1());
        }
    }
}

This allows me to start the application in Spanish without making settings in the system panel. This is not recommended for a live system. It just makes testing a little bit easier.

b) Remove the localized resx files from your sln. Just the original Form1.resx should be in the project for now.

c) Rebuild you EXE in Visual Studio

d) Build the satellites in Sisulizer.

e) Start the EXE. Please make sure that you start the correct EXE. Your project is setup in Sisulizer is to create the DLLs in the Debug Dir while your Visual Studio might create the EXE in the Release Dir. Perhaps you change the version number in AssemblyInfo.cs to better identify the editions.

It successfully tried with CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("es") and CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture("en").

I also added German to the Sisulizer project. While my computer has a German GUI I get German output if I start the application with Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture;

If you have set Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture; you can also use F8 to start your application from Sisulizer with the right Culture.

Hi Markus,

Thanks for your help. It worked with pseudo translation.

But again SISULIZER is not translating automatically. When we create localized file for another language it changed label text,form name etc to blank.

Hi,

A software localization tool does not autoamtically translate. It helps you to find all strings in the application needed to be translated. After you - or your translator - entered the translations Sisulizer builds the localized binaries. The option to use machine translation is good to get some fast idea how your application will look in the target language. But it is not recommended to use machine translation in apps you ship to your customers. We recommend to use native speakers for localization only.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Generally yes, but you told me that to some reason Google Translate in Sisulizer is not working on your machine. My best guess is, that it is related to your firewall.

I tried with your settings and projects here and I had no problems with your strings and Google Translate.

One of our developers told me that he has some test applications. In the moment it does not have proxy support so it will not be helpful in your case right at this moment. If we have a version that has proxy support I will let you know and you can use it to analyze the problem on your machine.
