I just added a new DLL to an existing project and sisu prompted me which translation it should use for several items.

For example, the OK button of a dialog inside the dll caused a prompt from sisu if it should use one of
OK
Schliessen (with the ringel-s, obviously)

Now I know a little bit of German so I can guess (actually, both are correct in this case). However, me - the developer, is the person who is the least qualified to make this auto-translate decision. For German I may do fine, but selecting the translation for Spanish is just guessing in my case ;-)

There doesn't seem to be a way to tell Sisu "If you are not sure which translation to use, do NOT auto-translate it".

Feature requests:
1. Allow me (the developer who doesn't speak German or Spanish) to cancel (do not auto-translate this text)

2. Store those duplicates as suggestions to the translator
A nice feature would be that Sisu would store the duplicate translations so the translator can select the one he likes best in this case

3. Validation report - Translation Consistency
Allow the translator (not me!) to run a report showing him a list of items where he used a different translation for the same source text

Gert

Hello Gert,

Because your thread is rather about improving Sisulizer's features than about bugs, I moved this thread to our wishes section.

There doesn't seem to be a way to tell Sisu "If you are not sure which translation to use, do NOT auto-translate it".
When Sisulizer find multiple translations for this same original, displayed is dialog where you can skip  auto-translation for this string. But you need repeat this operation for this string every time when you use Translate Duplicate feature. However, feature of saving user's choice or feature for excluding selected rows from auto-translation seem to me very interesting. Unfortunately, our R&D have long queue of feature requests and they hard work on implementation all these improvements, so I can't promise anything...

2. Store those duplicates as suggestions to the translator A nice feature would be that Sisu would store the duplicate translations so the translator can select the one he likes best in this case
You can use Export feature, and select "All instances that has different properties" in "Duplicates" section of "Other" tab in "Export Wizard - Options" dialog. It allows you send to your translator list (as TMX, TXT, XLIFF or XLS files) with all duplicates that has been translated in different ways. Then translator can select most appropriated items.

3. Validation report - Translation Consistency Allow the translator (not me!) to run a report showing him a list of items where he used a different translation for the same source text
You can use following solution:
Go to "Validation" menu -> "Validate Translation" and click "Deselect All". Next, select "Duplicate translation" item and run validation. It should display all duplicates that has been translated in different ways (when all translations of duplicates are identical, validation list is empty). Then, you can save results as HTML report.
This functionality isn't available in free edition.

Best regards,
Janusz

Hello Janusz,

" 3. Validation report - Translation Consistency Allow the translator (not me!) to run a report showing him a list of items where he used a different translation for the same source text" You can use following solution: Go to "Validation" menu -> "Validate Translation" and click "Deselect All". Next, select "Duplicate translation" item and run validation. It should display all duplicates that has been translated in different ways (when all translations of duplicates are identical, validation list is empty). Then, you can save results as HTML report. This functionality isn't available in free edition.

I think this feature is something that is typically used by translators, not developers. Please have the Devs reconsider allowing this report in the free edition.

Gert

... and Markus as worldwide sales boss;).

Generally, all validation and report features are unavailable in Free edition. However, its is available in Translator edition. This edition is not very expensive.
